Is Love Easy Or Difficult?
It’s a big question: Should love be easy or hard? There are two major lines of thought:
Love is easy.
When you find the right person, your true calling, or your niche community, everything falls into place. Love for your partner, your work, and your friends flows effortlessly. It feels natural, intuitive—like it was always meant to be.
Love is challenging.
Like life itself, love isn’t always easy, even with the right person. It requires commitment, resilience, and a willingness to show up—even when it’s difficult. Love is about duty, honor, and the resolve to do what’s right, regardless of fleeting emotions.
May I Suggest…
It’s both.
Think of your favorite basketball player at their best—completely in the flow of the game. Their movements are effortless, their energy boundless. They make it look easy.
But that ease comes from relentless practice, deep study, and unwavering commitment. They’ve put in the work so that, in the moment, everything just clicks.
Love works the same way. When we learn what love is and practice it daily, we get better at it. The effort we put in—through patience, understanding, and commitment—allows love to flow naturally.
Love is doing the hard work so that, in time, it’s easy.
" Love constrained was never intended. It is to be expressed, enjoyed, declared, and revealed. Love is an adoration, a cherishing, a celebration, a savoring, a prized treasure, a glorious indulgence, a beautiful luxury, a fanciful delight.” - Dr. Mark A. Hicks, Learning Love, p.107
